Named for the Salomon Brothers who once produced cotton here, Salomon Bay is now a popular spot for snorkeling.
<p>If you stand on the beach at Salomon Bay, you'll be privy to a beautiful view of Pillsbury Sound, the islands of St. Thomas and Jost Van Dyke, and several cays.</p>
Salomon Bay is known for having some of the finest snorkeling along the north shore, perhaps because of a reef that separates Salomon Bay from Honeymoon Bay. The reef is located in a calm part of the bay, with shallow waters that make it easy for snorkelers to get an up-close look at the coral.
Positioned on the outskirts of Cruz Bay, a few hundred yards north of downtown, Salomon Bay welcomes visitors who are lodging in this town or an area nearby. Even if you are not staying in the vicinity, you are free to stop by to check it out.
You won't face any difficulties finding a meal before or after your visit to this bay, since you will find a broad selection of food and drink providers in the vicinity. The most proximate eatery to Salomon Bay is Asolare Restaurants, which offers Asian Fusion dishes. Asolare Restaurants is a small ways away, but far-off enough that you will probably want to make advance plans for using a type of transportation to travel there. Also within a short distance, you and your party will encounter restaurants such as Caneel Beach Terrace and Caneel Beach Bar & Grill where you and your companions should be sure to test out American fare and experience the Virgin Islands culture.
Vacationers that are a fan of bays, and have the energy to view some others, might consider seeing Cruz Bay Battery, which is a half mile away downtown Cruz Bay.
