Part of the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, this islet is an important part of the migratory path of 13 different species of birds who travel through the area each year.
In addition to the birds and three species of turtles that call Culebrita home, more than 50,000 seabirds stop here to breed their young here. There are also nearly 100 species of plants here for visitors to be on the look out for.
Set in the heart of the island of Culebrita, Culebrita Wildlife Refuge welcomes residents and tourists who are rooming on this part of the island. However, even if you aren't staying very close, you should consider stopping by for some fun in the sun. Culebra Pueblo is to the west.
There are plenty of dining options to choose from in the neighborhood around this wildlife reservation. Gio by Gio, which has a menu full of Caribbean meals, is also the most convenient option for visitors of this nature preserve. Restaurant Guava and El Eden offer additional restaurant options within reach of the nature preserve. At El Eden you and your group can't ask for your check without sampling their specialty, sandwiches, among others.
