Isla Culebra is located about 17 miles east off the mainland, Puerto Rico. The island is home to the Culebra Wildlife Refuge and is a quiet destination for those looking to get away from the bustling cities that cover most of Puerto Rico. Although flying to Culebra is a possibility, many visitors choose to take the ferry out of Fajardo to save a bit of money and hastle.
The ferry is run by Puerto Rico Fast Ferry, providing easy transportation between Fajardo and Culebra for $2.25(USD) per adult one way, and $4.50(USD) round trip. For children and seniors, it only costs $1.00(USD) per trip. It takes about an hour on the ferry both ways, and you should plan to get to the pier one hour in advance of your departure time to ensure that you get a seat. The ferry leaves daily Monday-Sunday from Fajardo to Culebra at 9:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. From Culebra to Fajardo, the ferry leaves at 6:30 a.m. ,1:00 p.m. and at 5:00 p.m. Monday-Sunday.

With direct access to Puerto Rico's main ferry terminal in Fajardo, guests to Culebra will be able to easily take a connecting ferry to additional locations. A car barge is also available on a varying schedule, with the price of the trip depending on the size of the vehicle. This ferry leaves from Fajardo at 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and also at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday. The return trip from Culebra leaves at 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with an additional crossing at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.
