Flamenco Beach

Several miles off the coast of Puerto Rico on the island of Culebra lies the immaculate and renowned Flamenco Beach. It is so renowned in fact that in 2014 it jumped up to the third best beach in the world from its place at fifth the previous year as ranked by TripAdvisor. Flamenco is the perfect place to appreciate nature's natural beauty and enjoy the sights and sounds of a Marine Wildlife Preserve. There are no motorized water sports on this beach, meaning visitors can quietly enjoy swimming or snorkeling around the coral reefs. Visitors can also explore abandoned military equipment on one end of the beach, left over from the pre-1970s period.

Located on the island of Isla de Culebra, Flamenco Beach is on the West edge of the island, You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Vacationers who want their beach to have a little bit of everything——a hint of seclusion, with a somewhat social scene—— should give Flamenco Beach a try. It's not the type of beach that gets packed every day, but it's not quiet or boring either.

How to Access The Beach
The island of Culebra is accessible by boat, ferry, or plane. From there you will find Flamenco Beach off Highway 251.

Amenities and Ambiance

Dazzling white sands, clear blue waters, and vibrant coral reefs have earned this beach recognition as one of the Best Beaches in America and Best Escape Beach by the Travel Channel. Flamenco Beach is protected by rolling hills and has been sanctioned as a Marine Wildlife Reserve.

The concession stand on-site could come in handy, even if you plan to have lunch elsewhere. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to order some food from one of the local vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Flamenco Beach is hardly your average Caribbean tourist beach and you won't find large crowds along the water's edge. This beach is mainly visited by travelers seeking peace and solitude among the natural scenery of a government protected beach. It is both a Marine Wildlife Reserve and has been rated one of the world's best beaches time and again, after all.
