Since its establishment in 1978, Christoffel National Park has become a safe refuge for hundreds of native species that are scarcely seen anywhere on the rest of Curacao. Luckily, this conservation area and its rich ecosystem is open to visitors who seek to explore the side of Curacao away from the beaches and tourist attractions, and is sure to please anyone who takes the time necessary to fully appreciate this massive reserve.

Christoffel National Park is a reserve that is maintained to be as natural as possible. You should expect no less than dense forests, blooming flowers, and wild animals, and in the center of the park is Mount Christoffel. The natural state also means you should expect bugs, so do not forget the bug spray.

Activities as Christoffel National Park are as varied as the species that live there, and there is something for everyone of every taste. For those up for a true adventure, there are over eight hiking trails that can be explored and hiked over a few hours. These trails range from easy walks across fields to rough climbs up the mountainous slopes. These slopes also become an attraction for the adrenaline seekers who can mountain bike on several trails as well, though the park does ask that you use their bikes and not personal ones. Other activities include nature watching, such as bird watching for the tropical flyers, and deer watching for the endangered Curacao White Tailed Deer, reduced to only 250. Finally, if this seems like too much to do in one day, it probably is. So call ahead and reserve a camp site and spend the night under the stars.

Christoffel National Park is situated on the northwestern part of the island of Curacao, 3.3 miles east of Lagun; it is to the southeast of Westpunt.

The park is a major attraction on Curacao and is easy to get to if you drive yourself or ask guide. Additionally, the main bus station in Otrabanda have buses that leave every two hours to the park.
