To escape from the sweltering island sun, beachgoers can take refuge beneath concrete huts for shelter. The waters here are excellent for swimming and snorkeling, which is some of the best in the area. You can also catch a canoe trip or take dive sessions and swimming lessons, available through the beach's dive shop. The beach can get a little crowded on the weekends, but it's otherwise pretty quiet.
Located on the southern outskirts of Lagun, Playa Lagun is on the North West edge of Curacao. You should consider stopping by whether or not you are staying nearby. The beaches in Curaçao aren't usually known for their peace and quiet, but Playa Lagun is less exposed than the others, making it just the right spot for vacationers who'd prefer to stay out of the busiest areas.
If you're taking the main coastal road from the south, make your way northwest into the town of Langun. The beach is at the southern tip of town and very close to Langun's main southern entrance.
This narrow northwestern cove boasts tranquil and shallow blue waters where you can glimpse vividly colored tropical fish which flourish in the waters off of this shore. This beach is located between towering steel-gray cliffs and framed by the crystalline waters of the Caribbean.
The snack bar located at this spot is perfect for quick lunches and cold drinks, too. You might also have the option to buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who set up shop at the beach.
Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you are looking to do some underwater exploration. These sultry sands are a hit with families and fishing boats. Steal away to Playa Lagun during the weekdays when the beach is virtually empty, and a great spot for a romantic rendezvous.During the weekend, however, you'll find that the beach gets packed with locals.
The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the North West coast of Curacao; it's located near attractions like Landhuis Kenepa Plantation, which is two miles away.
To some, beaches and museums may see like an unlikely combination, but many travelers find that museums like Tula Museum (situated two miles to the north) offer an entertaining diversion and help visitors understand Curaçao's interesting past.
