Much more remote than its neighbors to the north, but more accessible than those to the south, Hummingbird Beach is a nice compromise of privacy and efficiency. Visitors will be able to lay out on the sand and collect some sun rays, while other go play in the ocean. Plus, with the beach facing a group of barrier islands, the waters are not as rough as some of the other Belize Beaches.
Set in the vicinity of Dangriga, Hummingbird Beach is on the South East edge of Belize. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying very close. Hummingbird Beach has fast become the favorite of many vacationers; it has a somewhat urban and convenient setting, but is rarely crowded. If you'd rather socialize than take a nap on a completely empty beach, but don't want to compete with other beachgoers for a spot, Hummingbird Beach is worth a visit.
Hummingbird Beach is located right off the main road heading South out of Dangriga, and is easily reached by car. There is, however, no official paved parking, so be ready for some off-road parking.
The majority of the beach is free from development, and while that means you can enjoy the quietness of the beach, it also means you should not be expecting too many amenities, or any for that matter.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business.
Set on the South East coast of Belize; the area is home to other attractions such as Drums of Our Father's Monument, which is not very far away, so you may choose to walk to this destination, while some will prefer to take a cab.
Some may think that beaches and museums are an odd combination, but many travelers find that museums like Gulisi Garifuna Museum (one of the closest to Hummingbird Beach) offer an entertaining diversion and a whole new perspective of Belize.

Those visiting Hummingbird Beach who are seeking some additional excitement should consider heading over to Dangriga, since it's close-by and is an active, busy area. From the coast, Dangriga isn't far off, about a mile (a kilometer and a half).
Whether or not you encounter many other people will depend on how many hotel guests decide to make the trip as well. There aren't many major hotels in the immediate vicinity, but you may encounter guests from smaller accommodations in the area.
