Beaches in Dennery

Nestled about midway down St. Lucia's beautiful Atlantic coast is the town of Dennery.  A typical day at the beaches in this immediate area includes rough surf beating against a rocky coastline and foamy, salt water splashing up, spraying anyone who stands too close.  These waters are choppy and rough, and not generally suitable for swimming, but the setting is ideal for contemplating the natural beauty and "getting away from it all."

One of the most interesting beaches in the area is also the closest:  Anse Louvert. Because it's a little difficult to reach, you may have the beach all to yourself. This secluded setting is ideal for looking out at the sea, reading, or just communing with nature.  If you have your heart set on swimming or snorkeling, you will probably want drive over to Marigot Bay or one of the other beaches along the island's west coast where the waters are much calmer.

The Area's Beaches

You'll discover a large selection of beaches to visit, though they are all located nearby. Snorkeling is an option at some of the beaches, for visitors who are so inclined. To get full details any specific beach simply click on the names of the ones you are interested in.

Marigot Bay

One beach with snorkeling is Marigot Bay. With many docks, boaters will have an easy time arriving here; but if you're coming on land, take La Toc Rd south from Castries. After doing some serious road-winding, take a right on Waterfront, just before the Marigot Secondary School.

A second alternative that beach-goers can consider is Malabar Beach. The golden sands of Malabar Beach sit right in between Choc Beach and the Vigie Airport, where you'll find scores of beachgoers lounging in chairs under umbrellas, and many others in the gentle, blue waters of the bay. Off to the right, you'll have a lovely view of nearby Rat Island.

Vigie Beach: From Castries, go north on the John Compton Hwy and take a left at the roundabout as you pass the airstrip. This will put you right on the water.
