Nestled about midway down St. Lucia's beautiful Atlantic coast is the town of Dennery. A typical day at the beaches in this immediate area includes rough surf beating against a rocky coastline and foamy, salt water splashing up, spraying anyone who stands too close. These waters are choppy and rough, and not generally suitable for swimming, but the setting is ideal for contemplating the natural beauty and "getting away from it all."
One of the most interesting beaches in the area is also the closest: Anse Louvert. Because it's a little difficult to reach, you may have the beach all to yourself. This secluded setting is ideal for looking out at the sea, reading, or just communing with nature. If you have your heart set on swimming or snorkeling, you will probably want drive over to Marigot Bay or one of the other beaches along the island's west coast where the waters are much calmer.
There are an abundance of beaches to enjoy, although each of them are found just outside of Dennery. Snorkeling is available at some locations, if some of the people in your group enjoy this relaxing pastime. To get additional information about any one of these beaches just click on the names of the ones you want to learn more about.
A beach where snorkeling is an option is Marigot Bay. Marigot Bay's unspoiled lands and marked popularity draw visitors from all over, making it home to many different facilities and accommodations for guests. Enjoy fine dining, shopping, entertainment, and other activities along the shore while at Marigot Bay.
A second location worth considering is Malabar Beach. The golden sands of Malabar Beach sit right in between Choc Beach and the Vigie Airport, where you'll find scores of beachgoers lounging in chairs under umbrellas, and many others in the gentle, blue waters of the bay. Off to the right, you'll have a lovely view of nearby Rat Island.
Vigie Beach: The sandy shores of Vigie Beach slope gently into the clear blue waters of the Caribbean. The beach is well sheltered, providing relief from unruly tradewinds.
