Natural Attractions in Dennery

Most of Dennery is set in the Mabouya Valley, which means green fertile lands to explore via hiking trails and just simply heading off the beaten path with a guide who knows the area well enough to get you home.  There is also a nature reserve that covers an entire small island just south of town, making it an easy and well-recommended place to visit for eco-adventurers. 

Nature Preserves and Hiking

Do you want to enjoy part of your vacation out in the fresh air? You can choose from a few different hiking trails and some nature preserves near Dennery.

Barre de l'Isle Forest Reserve is a nature preserve situated 4.6 mi. West of central Dennery. The reserve features a few trails that will take hikers through he forest and up the mountain. Those who stay alert should be able to see some wildlife along the way too.

Waterfalls

Toraille Waterfalls

Although most visitors come for the beaches, those aren't the only way to enjoy the natural wonders available. Areas near Dennery some interesting choices, including 6 waterfalls.

You may enjoy visiting Sault Falls, which is located 1.2 mi. West of central Dennery. Known also by Dennery and Errand Falls, Sault Faulls is one of the biggest waterfalls on the island. It is also one of the lesser-known falls, the perfect reprieve for visitors who prefer a quiet hike and dip in the cool pools that is fills.

An additional choice to consider La Tille Waterfall. It is situated 6.0 mi. South of central Dennery. Set amid a beautiful garden is a scene that makes the display that much more enticing: the La Tille Waterfall. After taking in the local herbs and plants, a dip in the pools of this good-sized fall is a great way to cool off.

Parks and Botanical Gardens

Vacationers can enjoy a park, or 2 botanical gardens nearby.

To surround yourself with beautiful tropical vegetation, consider visiting Mamiku Gardens, which is found 3.1 mi. South of central Dennery. A collection of tropical plants and ruins of a house built in the 1700's, the Mamiku Gardens are quite an adventure despite its well maintained state.

A second popular attraction in this category is King George V Gardens. Named after a British King of the early 1900's, the gardens are a popular place for a walk in the middle of the day. Located nearby many other attractions, it is a place easily visited without going out of your way.
