Notable as the second largest boiling lake in the world, Boiling Lake is located in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. Despite taking about six hours round trip to get to this spot, most eco-tourists say it is worth the trek.
Boiling Lake is set in a volcanic crater filled with grey water and is often misty. Approximately 200 feet across, the lake is so hot at between 180 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit around the edges that it does indeed boil. The center of the lake, which seems to be the hottest, has never been temped, and we know that it goes at least 195 feet deep.
The trek to Boiling Lake is an arduous one, and it is recommended that you take a guide with you.
