Crescent Moon Cabins

Crescent Moon Cabins is an eco-sensitive establishment that was built using local hand-harvested materials within previously landscaped areas. Run by a couple from Pennsylvania, the cabins at Crescent Moon merge the natural beauty of the Dominican with the comforts of home.

If you're itching to be out by the ocean, Crescent Moon is a great option, since there is a good range of beaches in the vicinity. Mahaut South Beach and Donkey Beach are the closest possibilities, though you needn't feel obligated to limit yourself to those two choices.

Located on the island of Dominica, 1.8 miles east of Mahaut, Crescent Moon Cabins welcomes visitors who want to stay on this beautiful island. It's 3.9 miles north of the center of Roseau.

Crescent Moon Cabins

The cabins are designed to take full advantage of the panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Building construction incorporates local wood which seamlessly blends into the forest. The grounds are lush with tropical flower and fruit plants. Mango, Pawpaw, Almond trees as well as Banana and Breadfruit add a charming touch to this romantic setting. Stone foot paths take you into the forest or down by the river where you can take a cool bath, observe the many species of birds that come to visit, or just relax and read a book.

A locally handcrafted bed enlivens the cabin. Sights of the sea can be had from this vantage point or from the ten foot verandah. Each cabin has a spacious private bathroom and shower.

This lodge has been given a rating of two and a half stars, based on several factors, including activity and quality ratings, and more.

Ron, the co-founder of Crescent Moon, is a professional chef with over 20 years of experience. He integrates international cuisine with the exotic produce and regional seasonings. Dinner always begins with hot, home baked bread. A sample menu would start with a mixed green salad with beets and papaya dressing. An entrée of African style peanut stew with sweet potato, ladies yam, garden ochra, and wild ginger served with a portion of lemongrass rice to follow. And as for dessert, the hotel's favorite is homemade mango ice cream!

Outside of what is available on-location, those hoping to find more culinary variety should also take into account the area's other nearby eateries.
