Built in 1796 as a functioning distillery, the ruins now serve as a museum to give visitors an up-close look of a crucial part of Dominican history.
Visitors to the Museum of Rum will be able to explore the ruins of the distillery, as well as learn about a number of artifacts that have been gathered over the years. The owners here are always looking to expand, so you never know exactly what you will find. Please note, as of early 2015 the museum is not yet completed. There are some artifacts on display outside the museum, but the main exhibits are still closed.
The museum itself is set in the ruins of a distillery. It has recently been refurbished to give visitors a good idea of how it would looked when it was new at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
