The accommodations at Roots is unique in that they were built by local Kalinago Indians of local materials expressly to replicate traditional Carib Kai Pai, a type of housing that has been used on the island for hundreds of years. Each unit was worked into the landscape in order to have the least affect on the surrounding environment. There is no electricity on property, but hot water and lights are made possible using 10 and 12 volt inverters.
