Aguas Blancas Waterfall

This rugged waterfall tucked away in the center of one of Dominican Republic's National Parks is a natural wonder. Despite its seclusion, it is one of the most popular waterfalls on the island, likely due to the many activities it offers, from hiking and swimming to mountain climbing and repelling. This waterfall has something for everyone.

Aguas Blancas is a fitting name for this waterfall. As the water plunges 270 feet into a pool below, the once dark river becomes a torrent of white waters and mist. The rough waters are due in part to the mountainous region around the falls, also owing to the unique alpine environment that is rare anywhere else on the island. This is a majestic sight not to be missed by any adventurous traveler.

Aguas Blancas Waterfall can be found southeast of Constanza, a town in the Western side of the Dominican Republic; it's to the west-southwest of Bonao.

There are several ways to get to Aguas Blancas. Many tour groups offer hiking and mountain climbing excursions to reach the falls. However, if you choose to drive yourself, a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. By taking the only main road into Valle Nuevo National Park, you will come across another road about half way in that will take you to La Perla Restaurant. This side road continues past the restaurant, and if you follow it, you will come to the waterfall.
