The summer months is when the waters are calm enough that swimmers can enjoy the water without being pummeled by waves, while the winter months are perfect for surfers who want to catch waves of u to 12 feet.
Positioned in the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic, 7.0 miles west-northwest of Cabrera, Grande Beach is on the North edge of Hispaniola. You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. If you're looking for a quiet part of the coast, away from crowded tourist attractions, you should venture a little farther from the city, and a little closer to Grande Beach.

The sands of Grande Beach are a soft pink color, and the beach is lined with trees in a way that keeps the beach pretty shady.
Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.

Nearby, you'll find the town of Rio San Juan, which is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From the coast, Rio San Juan is found maybe five miles (eight kilometers) away.
The mood here——social and lively, or virtually empty—— will depend on many factors, including the capacity of nearby hotels. There are not many major hotels nearby, but it's sometimes enjoyed by guests from smaller lodgings in the area.

If you like the ambiance at this beach, you might also like Cabarete Beach, found 26 and a half miles away. If you're on the lookout for more active and social, Preciosa Beach may be just what you're looking for. It's located a few hundred yards to the east.
You might also want to visit El Breton, which is located fairly close-by, which means a short ride in a taxi will get you here pretty easily.
Maybe Grande Beach is a perfect spot for you to kick back, and at the same time perhaps not the the ideal fit; if so, there are other beaches and natural attractions in the Dominican Republic you might like.
