Maimon Beach

Part cove, part beach, and part river, the long shore of Maimon Beach offers a variety of features for people visiting. While most will not be coming to view the dark sand, eco-toursit and those looking for a natural beach may enjoy it. The average tourist, however, will likely be drawn in by its great swimming opportunities, nearby amenities, and easy access.

Located in the vicinity of Puerto Plata, Maimon Beach is on the North edge of the Dominican Republic. You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Maimon Beach stands out from other beaches because it's perfect for getting away from vacation stresses, like overly crowded restaurants and attractions. Other nearby beaches in the Dominican Republic may have the same warm sand and calming breezes as Maimon Beach, but tend to be more crowded since they're found in the most popular parts of town.

How to Access The Beach
Getting to Playa Maimon is pretty easy if you have a car. Taking Route 5 North from the Santiago Area, or West from the Puerto Plata area will lead you right to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

The size of Maimon Beach enables it to change quite a bit depending on where you are along the coast. At one point, it is a resort beach, where you will find mainly guests of hotels. A little bit further and it is used as solely a boat ramp. Finally, as you keep going, it gets a bit more natural, with mangroves going along the shores and a river running right into it.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline. You'll find the waters off-shore to be of good snorkeling quality, so grab some equipment if you're looking to see some exciting marine life.

Maimon Beach offers visitors an angelic and relaxing enclave, as the location that surrounds the beach is not heavily urbanized.

What's Nearby

The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the Dominican Republic's North coast. It is close to Casino Riu Bachata, which is close enough that guests will have the choice to walk or take a cab, and it is among the attractions close-by.

If you're interested in combining a cultural experience with your visit to the beach, you should consider a trip to Amber Museum, a lovely museum located easily within taxi range, so it could be a welcomed alternative to hot afternoon activities.
