Playa Cambronal

One of the northern most beaches in the Dominican Republic, Playa Cambronal is often passed over in favor of some of its southern siblings. The few who make the rough trip through unpaved roads and trails will be treated to an beauty of a beach complete with white sand and sparkling water, all without the crowds to share it with.

Positioned in the Western side of the Dominican Republic, Playa Cambronal is on the North edge of the Dominican Republic. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Even if you love being in the middle of all the action, there are some perks to visiting a beach that isn't overly lined with restaurants and beach bars; beautiful but out-of-the-way beaches like Playa Cambronal are perfect when you need a break from the typical tourist scene.

How to Access The Beach
Getting to Playa Camronal is not easy. Little, if any, public transportation will take you here and is a bit far from any major towns. However, with the proper four wheel-drive vehicle, you will be able to drive just north of La Isabela, to the dirt trails that will take you to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

If you plan on visiting Playa Cambronal, don't let the forests and surrounding rural landscape fool you. As you pass through the final line of trees all you will be able to notice is the shine of white sand and the soft sound of waves.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location.

If you tend to like beaches which offer those who visit an angelic environment, then maybe head on over to Playa Cambronal; it's back within a less urbanized area of the region.

Playa Cambronal is beautiful natural attraction, which you'll find in a secluded area, removed from popular tourist attractions, on the North coast of the Dominican Republic.

The nearest part of the Dominican Republic to Playa Cambronal is Luperon. This location is just seven miles from the shore, so a trip here doesn't have to take all day. Keep in mind that this section in the Dominican Republic isn't a congested area, and it can be an interesting destination for guests who want to see more of the area.


The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, it depends on many factors: the time of sundown, happy hour, even how full nearby hotel rooms are.

You shouldn't anticipate finding any of the Dominican Republic's frequently visited resorts close to this beach, though if you're trying to avoid masses of vacationers, the lack of accommodation possibilities will certainly be a welcomed sight.


There aren't any restaurants right on this shore, so it would be a good idea to pack a lunch if you want to fully enjoy your day in the sun.

You might also enjoy Cofresi Beach, located a worthwhile destination if you've got a car. If you're looking for a more active beach scene, you might like Playa de Nena. It's located 11 and a half miles to the east.

You may also want to consider Luperon Beach, located seven and a half miles to the east. Luperon Beach is superb for all sorts of water sports, so active travelers will enjoy this destination. Fortunately, the beach is fairly large and there's plenty of room to spread out on the white sand. Scuba diving is available in the deeper waters off of Luperon Beach.

Maybe Playa Cambronal is a perfect spot for you to kick back, and at the same time perhaps not the the ideal fit; in which case you should find a beach with a seclusion factor that suits you.
