Playa Grande

Tucked into one of the more remote areas of the Dominican Republic, but still just a short distance from Puerto Plata, Playa Grande is an ideal beach for those looking for secluded beach feel with the convenience of a nearby city.

Set in the vicinity of Puerto Plata, Playa Grande is on the North coast of the Dominican Republic. You might want even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. This beach isn't just another pleasant afternoon distraction, it's one of the rare "quiet" beaches in the Dominican Republic. While Playa Grande might be a little bit out of the way, it's a pleasure to find an undisturbed plot of sand like this one.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is located between the city of Puerto Plata and the area of Bajo Hondo. Connecting the two is a coastal road that grazes the beach, which can easily be followed. However, there is little if any official parking, so you may need to get creative.

Amenities and Ambiance

Lined by a thick forest, any signs of civilization will be blocked by the tall trees, offering plenty of privacy and shade. However, with this privacy comes the trade-off of a rather dark sand and a beach that is less maintained, so you will likely find some driftwood and other things washed ashore. If such things do not bother you than no worries!

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.

Playa Grande offers those who visit a quiet and relaxing environment, since the location that surrounds the beach is not heavily urbanized.
