Playa Madama

Located at the very tip of La Samana, Playa Madama is a calm cove protected from the large waves of the Atlantic. Visitors will find it perfect for swimming, playing, relaxing, or really anything, as the calm and crystal clear water and soft sand are inviting all around.

Located in the Samana Peninsula, 3.3 miles northeast of Arroyo Del Cabo, Playa Madama is on the East-Northeast coast of Hispaniola. You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you're staying in the vicinity.

How to Access The Beach
When on Samana, simply head East. At the end you will find a dirt road that take you right to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Despite all the beauty that Playa Madama has to offer, it its a bit small and an easily become crowded. Luckily, its distance makes it less visited than other beaches.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. The water in the area is of good snorkeling quality, so purchase or rent some equipment if you are looking to do some underwater exploration.

Playa Madama offers a calm and serene enclave, thanks to the fact that the region surrounding the beach is positioned apart from more urban areas.

Playa Madama is beautiful natural site, which you'll find on the East-Northeast coast of Hispaniola; the area is home to other attractions such as Iguanario Los Tocones, which is one of the closest attractions.

Historical attractions like St. Peter's Church provide a nice compliment to a soothing day at Playa Madama, and provide beachgoers with the opportunity to learn about the Dominican Republic's past, without straying too far from the coastline. As a matter of fact, this shore is a rather short taxi ride away from this interesting historical site.

There are plenty of beautiful beach locations to choose from on Hispaniola, so if Playa Madama doesn't suit you, you can still find a great spot.

Another option worth considering is Playa Aldero, located a mile and a half to the west-southwest.

Of course, there is much more to do besides lounge on the sand in the Dominican Republic, but taking a swim at Playa Madama is certainly a fun way to enjoy the area's natural attractions.
