Playa Nizao

This long beach just outside the town is also the site of a few lagoons and rivers, allowing visitors to see a few different natural features in one place. This is a great time saver for eco-tourist who will also enjoy the beach's more remote forested areas on the edges.

Located in the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic, 1.3 miles west-southwest of Nizao, Playa Nizao is on the South coast of Hispaniola. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Those of you who might prefer a beach that's a little less crowded, but still fun and active, may really like a visit to Playa Nizao. It's just slightly removed from the center of it all, but it's not dead and empty either.

Playa Nizao tourists seeking some additional excitement might think about heading over to Bani, which is close-by and is an especially active area of the Dominican Republic. From Playa Nizao, Bani is a car ride off, about eight and a half miles (13 and a half kilometers) away.


The number of other vacationers sharing this coastline can vary widely, it depends on many factors: the time of sundown, happy hour, even how packed the nearby hotels are. There aren't many large hotels in the immediate vicinity, but you may meet guests staying at some of the smaller accommodations in the area.


While this coastal destination is not exactly the area's culinary epicenter, you can still find some interesting eateries, especially if you're willing to venture a little farther away. The closest places to grab a bite to eat is Cafeteraa Capital, which is a delicious choice during or after a day at the beach.

Travelers who are looking for the ideal beach on Hispaniola will have lots of options besides Playa Nizao.

If the exciting vibe at Playa Nizao is what you're looking for, you'll want to consider checking out Playa los Ninos, a beach with a similar ambiance. You'll find it six and a half miles to the east-northeast. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Playa Najayo is a location which doesn't see as many crowds. You'll find it eight and a half miles away.

You may also want to consider Playa los Cuadritos, located 13 and a half miles to the northeast.
