Playa Nizao

This long beach just outside the town is also the site of a few lagoons and rivers, allowing visitors to see a few different natural features in one place. This is a great time saver for eco-tourist who will also enjoy the beach's more remote forested areas on the edges.

Set in the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic, 1.3 miles west-southwest of Nizao, Playa Nizao is on the South coast of Hispaniola. You might want even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. The Dominican Republic's beaches are pretty busy for the most part, however, Playa Nizao is tamer than most, which makes it an excellent attraction for those of you who'd like a less hectic scene, but one that's not completely empty.

While the sand can look a little dirty, it is just the color of the sand, which adds an interesting twist to the whole experience.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.

If you happen to favor beaches that bring guests an idyllic enclave, then think about trying out Playa Nizao; it's tucked away within a much quieter area of the region.

Playa Nizao is very close to Bani, so a trip into the city is a definite option. Playa Nizao visitors looking for other opportunities for exploration might want to think about heading to Bani, which is in the vicinity and is an active, busy area. From the beach, Bani is located roughly eight and a half miles (13 and a half kilometers) away.


The crowdedness of the shoreline can vary widely, it depends mainly on when you visit, and how many hotel rooms have been booked nearby. The beach is not located close to many large hotels, but it's often visited by visitors staying at the few small lodgings in the area.


Although you'll be hard-pressed to find many dining options nearby, you can still find some interesting eateries, particularly if you're willing to venture a little out of the way. Cafeteraa Capital is one of the closest eateries, which is a delicious choice during or after a day at the beach.

Other Beaches

Needless to say, there are other beaches on Hispaniola besides Playa Nizao worth visiting.

You may also want to try Playa los Ninos, which is home to plenty of activity. It is located six and a half miles to the east-northeast. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Playa Najayo is a beach which doesn't host as many visitors. It is located eight and a half miles away.

Vacationers may also want to visit Playa los Cuadritos, located 13 and a half miles to the northeast.

The Dominican Republic offers endless ways to discover its natural beauty, so visiting Playa Nizao is just one way you can enjoy a sunny afternoon.
