Playa Pedernales

Playa Pedernales is the closest beach to Haiti on the south side, and while it is just below a pretty busy city, it does not often get that crowded, save for the local boats that come and go throughout the day.

Located in the Western side of the Dominican Republic, 0.8 miles south of Pedernales, Playa Pedernales is on the South West coast of the Dominican Republic. You might want regardless of whether you're staying nearby. This beach is not just another beautiful natural attraction, it's one of the rare "quiet" beaches in the Dominican Republic. While Playa Pedernales may be a little more difficult to reach, it's the best place to take an undisturbed nap on the sand.

Amenities and Ambiance

Playa Pedernales if a good beach for walking, as it is very long. The calm water has also made it a popular spot for kayaks and swimming. What you can also do here that can not be done in other beaches is walk right up to the Haiti-Dominican Republic Border. Borders rarely look as trivial as when it is literally a line in the sand.

The closest section of the Dominican Republic to Playa Pedernales is Aguas Negras. This location is just ten miles from the beach, so a trip here doesn't have to take all day. It should be noted that Pedernales is not overly congested, so for visitors wishing to get a taste of local life, this part in the Dominican Republic could make for a really nice day trip.
