Just before the more popular Playa Grande in Cabarera is Playa Preciousa. This quiet stretch of sand is often overlooked despite the stunning views. Yet, if you plan to spend your beach-going days participating in water sports such as body boarding, kite surfing, or surfing, this location is known as one of the best on the island..
Set in the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic, 6.8 miles west-northwest of Cabrera, Preciosa Beach is on the North edge of Hispaniola. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you're staying nearby. There are plenty of advantages to visiting a beach that isn't overly lined with restaurants and beach bars; beautiful but out-of-the-way beaches like Preciosa Beach are perfect when you need a break from the typical tourist scene.
Preciosa Beach is set just off Highway 5. Exit the highway at a dirt road where you can park in a clearing after the trees.
Preciousa Beach is located on the north shore, and as such the aquamarine waters that crash ashore can be too rough for your typical swimmer. Still, the golden sands framed by palm trees and with a view of rugged cliffs make it worth a visit.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
If you tend to desire coasts which bring guests a quiet place to escape, then think about trying out Preciosa Beach; it is found in a more rural section of Hispaniola.
You'll find this beach on the Dominican Republic's North coast; the area is home to other attractions such as Playa Grande Golf Course, which is pretty close, so some guests will want to walk to this attraction, while others will choose to take a cab.

There are multiple beaches to discover on Hispaniola, of course, so if Preciosa Beach doesn't sound like your type of scene, you have options.
You might also enjoy Cabarete Beach, found 26 and a half miles to the west. On the other hand, Grande Beach offers more action, and is closer to other popular destinations. It's found a few hundred yards to the west.
You might also want to visit El Breton, which is located four and a half miles away.
