There are few options available for people seeking to visit Elbow Cay other than sailing. As such, you can expect quite an offering of sailing and maritime excursions to make up the activities available at the cay.

Whatever it takes to get you out on the gorgeous waters that surround Elbow Cay, there are plenty of options readily available that should be taken advantage of. While sailors of their own vessels will have plenty of places to dock, those tourists without their own boat will be faced with a pool of charters, day sails, fishing trips, and diving excursions to get them out to sea.

If you want to enjoy some time on the water, without the cost and responsibility of sailing on your own you should take a day sailing excursion. Curious what's included and where you'll go? See the listing below for information on area excursion services.

Because the only direct path to Elbow Cay is by boat, yachting to this destination is a popular choice amongst those who have the knowledge and skill to do so – or the desire to charter a crewed yacht to get them there. Unfortunately, there is no official port of entry on Elbow Cay, so sailors will first have to make a stop elsewhere on Abaco before continuing on to this island. The closest port of entry is Marsh Harbour on Abaco, but others include Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay, Sandy Point, Walkers Cay, Grand Cay, and Spanish Cay.

As you near whichever port you choose to first stop at, put up your yellow quarantine flag and place a call to channel 16 on the VHF to let Harbour Control know you are on your way in. An official from customs and immigration will meet you when you dock to inspect your boat and your paperwork. Here only the captain will be allowed off the boat until official clearance has been gained, though each passenger must show proof of citizenship and fill out immigration paperwork. Once the all clear has been given, it will cost $150 to $300(USD) to pay for a cruising permit, fishing permit, and departure fee for four passengers, and an additional $15(USD) per person over four. The total will depend upon the size of the boat. When the payment has been made, the boat is clear to sail around the Bahamas for up to 90 days.
