Current Bay Beach

One of the Northern most beaches on Eleuthera Island, Current Bay Beach can be a bit of a drive, but anyone willing to make it will be rewarded with a quiet beach and amazing sights.

Set on the northwestern coast of the island of Eleuthera, You might think about stopping by regardless of whether you're staying nearby. If you're looking for a quiet part of the coast, away from crowded tourist attractions, you should consider going off the beaten path to Current Bay Beach.

How to Access The Beach

Anyone on Eleuthera Island who wants to head over to Current Bay will need to take the Public Highway as far North as it will go. Once the road splits, head right (East) and you will end at Current Bay Beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Bordered on one side by a dense forest and the other-side by an underwater forest, Current Bay Beach is perfect for anyone up to a little exploring.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. Happily, the off-shore waters are of good snorkeling quality, so grab some gear if you want to check out what lies beneath the surface.

If you happen to go for beaches which offer an idyllic haven, then you will want to try Current Bay Beach; it is hidden away in a much quieter section of Eleuthera.

Cities and Towns

The nearby town of Dunmore Town is an interesting area that brings together the quietude of the Caribbean and the urbanization of city life. From the shore, Dunmore Town is a fairly short distance away, maybe five miles (eight kilometers).

Hotels

Whether or not you encounter many other people will depend on many factors, including the capacity of nearby hotels.

Don't anticipate finding any of The Bahamas' frequently visited hotels and resorts alongside this beach, but if you're hoping to elude throngs of vacationers, the shortage of places to stay will certainly be a pleasant sight.

Food

One of the best ways to round off a laid-back trek to the beach is to try an area restaurant, where you'll be able to sample regional favorites, without going too far from the coast. One of the closest restaurants is Angela's Starfish Restaurant. This restaurant offers a menu of Caribbean food. They have become well-known, however, because of their seafood.
