How to Access The Beach
The beach is just to the east of the Green Castle area, and taking Sherman's Highway to one of the dirt roads would normally get you to this beach. Unfortunately, construction efforts in this area are currently blocking access -- so currently your best option is to visit one of the other lovely beaches in this area.

The calm water at Jack's Bay Beach and the shimmering sand is sure to draw in all who take a glimpse. Luckily, the beach is defended from crowds thanks to a wall of trees, offering privacy and isolation to those who seek it.

Please note that public restrooms are not available. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear enough for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to do some underwater exploration.

Jacks Bay Beach is near Rock Sound, so a trip into the city is a definite option. The closest town is Rock Sound, which is in an area with interesting things to do and see, but isn't as sprawling and crowded as some other areas. From the coast, Rock Sound isn't out of reach at six miles (nine and a half kilometers) away.


The mood here——social and lively, or virtually empty—— will vary depending on the time of day, particularly in the high season when hotels overflow with tourists. The area does not have very many large hotels, but it can attract guests staying at some of the area's smaller options.


Though there aren't many widely-known restaurants nearby, you'll still have some choices, especially if you are prepared to venture a little farther away. One of the closest places to eat is Ship to Shore Restaurant, which is a delicious choice during or after a day at the beach.

Travelers who like this beach might also enjoy South Palmetto Point, found a little ways off, but can be reached in the car. However, if that's not exactly what you're looking for, Whiteland Beach offers more action, and is closer to nearby attractions. You'll find it four miles to the north-northeast.
