Whiteland Beach is very close to Rock Sound, so touring the city could be a fun side-trip after visiting the beach. Rock Sound is the closest city and is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From the shore, Rock Sound is just up the road, about two and a half miles (four kilometers).


The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, depending on everything from the time of day to how many hotel rooms have been booked nearby. There are not many major hotels nearby, but you may encounter guests staying at smaller accommodations in the area.


Though this coastal destination is not exactly the area's culinary epicenter, you'll probably still spot a few places to try, particularly if you are prepared to venture a little out of the way. One of the nearest restaurants is Coco Plum Seaside Restaurant Bar, which is just a little ways away.
