Please note that public restrooms are not available, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. The water in the area is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you want to do some underwater exploration.

Whiteland Beach brings guests a calm and peaceful getaway, thanks to the fact that the location that surrounds the beach is more rural than urban.

The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the South coast of Eleuthera. It is near Cotton Bay Golf Club, which is a short taxi ride's distance, and it is one of the attractions in the area.

Historical attractions like Tarpum Bay Castle provide a nice compliment to a soothing day at Whiteland Beach, and provide beachgoers with the opportunity to learn about The Bahamas' past, without having to venture too far from the coast. Actually, this shoreline is nine and a half miles to the north of this historical destination.

Whiteland Beach is very close to Rock Sound, so a trip into the city is a definite option. Not far away you'll find Rock Sound, a city which is an interesting area that brings together the quietude of the Caribbean and the urbanization of city life. From the coast, Rock Sound is not far away, about two and a half miles (four kilometers).


The number of other vacationers sharing this coastline can vary widely, depending on when you visit, and how packed the nearby hotels are. There aren't many large hotels nearby, but you may see visitors from the few small lodgings in the area.


While this coastal destination is not exactly the area's culinary epicenter, you'll probably still spot a few places to try, particularly if you are willing to drive a bit. Coco Plum Seaside Restaurant Bar is one of the closest eateries, which is just a little ways away.

Of course, Whiteland Beach is just one of many beaches you might like on Eleuthera.

Another location you might enjoy is South Palmetto Point, located a little ways off, but can be reached in the car. Others might prefer Northside Beach, which offers a few more possibilities for excitement, and isn't far from nearby attractions. It's located two and a half miles to the north.

You might also want to visit Skeleton Beach, which is located a quick cab ride away.

Whiteland Beach could be the ideal stretch of sand, but it is possible that it may not be the best choice for your family; in which case you should keep looking for a beach or natural attraction that suits your vacation style.
