Secluded, open, and rarely crowded, Windward Beach makes up for it rocky waters with beautiful views and plenty of sand to sun bathe on. With the shimmering ocean on one side and a wall of trees on the other, eco-tourist and all lovers of natural beaches should be pleased with this one.
Positioned on the island of Antigua, near Falmouth Harbour, You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Many of the beaches in Antigua are quiet and secluded, but Windward Beach offers those same relaxation qualities without having to be too far removed from the city's activity.
At the southern end of Dockyard Drive, you can turn westward along dirt roads. Taking these dirt roads to the southwest will lead you right to the beach.
Windward Beach curves in a cove that protects the beach from some of the rougher waters that can be found in the area. However, with the rocky shore, it is not always the best place to go for a swim, lest you hurt yourself. Additionally, if you do plan on a long day of laying in the sun, be sure to bring you own food and drinks; you will not find and on the beach.
Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location.
Since Windward Beach happens to be located in an area that sees many visitors, you might need to hunt to get a spot!
Windward Beach is beautiful natural attraction, which you'll find on the South coast of Antigua. It is near, which is found a half mile to the east, and it is one of the attractions close-by.
If you're interested in mixing a little culture with your trip to the beach, you should plan a trip to Dockyard Museum. This museum is relatively near Windward Beach, giving you a chance to see, and learn about, even more of the area.

Windward Beach is close to English Harbour, so you can explore the city as part of your day at the beach. The nearby town of English Harbour is not an overly urbanized area, but still has its fair share of things to do.
The crowdedness of the shoreline can vary widely, it depends on several things: the season, the weather, even how packed the nearby hotels are. There aren't many large hotels in the immediate vicinity, but you may encounter guests from smaller lodgings in the area.

Even after a restful afternoon at the beach, the day isn't truly complete until you eat at a local restaurant, where you'll be able to sample the local chefs' favorite dishes, without straying too far from your current location. One of the closest restaurants is Bumpkins. The restaurant has Caribbean cuisine. They also specialize in seafood. You and your group can get to this restaurant and start eating in just a few minutes since it's not far off the beach at all.

Antigua has many beaches, so Windward Beach is not your only option.
You might also enjoy Galleon Beach, located only a short distance away. Others might prefer Rendezvous Bay, which offers a few more possibilities for excitement, and is closer to nearby attractions. You'll find it two and a half miles to the west.
You may also want to consider Pigeon's Beach, located a quarter mile to the north.
Antigua offers endless ways to discover its natural beauty, and dropping by Windward Beach is just one way to appreciate a pretty afternoon.
