The beaches of Martinique are quite diverse.  Some have black sands, some have white; some allow nudity, and others are secluded and natural.  In Fort de France you'll find the shores are mostly comprised of white sands and calm waters.  Luckily, all of the beaches in this town are public, even those backed by resorts, so you can visit them all and for free.

Beach Choices In The Area

You will discover a large selection of beaches to consider in and around the area. Snorkeling is an option at several locations, if some of the people in your group enjoy the underwater scene. For more detail concerning any of these beaches just click on the names of the ones you're intrigued by.

Pointe du Bout

Plage de l'Anse Madame: The "in town" beach, Plage de l'Anse Madame remains calm with waters and sand of good quality despite its popularity.

Another option that beach-goers can consider is Pointe du Bout. There's plenty to do and see both in and out of the water at Pointe du Bout. Watch the boats come in to dock or take in the local shops.

Anse Mitan: The golden beaches of Anse Mitan feature clear but deep water. The shore is spotted with palm trees, which conceal a few small bistros.
