Flying to Frederiksted

With few options, you will likely need to make at least one stop before landing on St. Croix

Flying into Frederiksted is possible, though for the majority of people it will mean at least one stop. Additionally, even though there is an airport on the island of St. Croix (where Frederiksted is located), many will fly into the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas first, where there is a larger international airport.

Flying to Frederiksted from the US

When you fly into St. Croix, you will only be coming from a handful of places. If you hope to fly direct from outside the Caribbean, your options are even more shallow. A US Airways flight from Miami is currently the only year-round flight to St. Croix offered, so unless you live in or near Miami, you will likely be making one or two stops.

If you live in the U.S. this chart may come in handy. Booking services may not show the most logical options so it can be helpful to know which airlines actually provide direct service to this airport.

Flying to Frederiksted from the Caribbean

If you are already in the Caribbean, or plan on making a layover, your options still are not that diverse.

See the table below for air service from airports in the Caribbean region. Even if you can't get a flight directly from your preferred airport, connecting through another Caribbean airport may be a good solution.

Henry E Rohlsen Airport Caribbean Flights
To/From Airport Code Airlines
Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda ANU LIAT
Basseterre, St. Kitts SKB Hummingbird Air
Isla Verde, Puerto Rico SJU Jet Blue, United Airlines
Roseau, Dominica DCF Hummingbird Air
Simpson Bay, The island of St. Martin and Sint Maarten SXM Hummingbird Air, LIAT
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands STT Cape Air, Hummingbird Air, Seaborne Airlines
Vieques, Puerto Rico VQS Cape Air, Seaborne Airlines
Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia UVF Hummingbird Air
the BVI, British Virgin Islands EIS Hummingbird Air

The important thing to realize about the limited options is that during the high season, flights can get booked. With only a handful origin flights avaliable, and no ferry service to get you from the larger airport to St. Croix, you will need to make sure to book earlier and ensure your seat.

When you finally arrive, you'll be able to pick up your rental car from the airport, or have a taxi drive you for a set rate of $6 to $12(USD) per person depending on how many passengers are riding.
