East Palm Beach

This beach is in William's town, where its immediate surroundings are not nearly as urbanized as those on surrounding beaches (Xanadu to the west and Lucayan to the east), making East Palm a nice quiet spot without being too far away from the excitement of Freeport.

Located two miles south of downtown Freeport, East Palm Beach is on the South West coast of Grand Bahama Island. You might want whether or not you are staying in the immediate vicinity. East Palm Beach is one part of The Bahamas' coast that doesn't usually get packed with beachgoers, but it's still a popular and generally active spot.

How to Access The Beach
To get to the eastern portion, take E Beach Dr (sometimes called Beachway Dr) south from Freeport all the way to the water. Continue on the road down the coast if you want to reach the more secluded portions. Eventually, the road stops, and following a dirt path will lead you to the beach at its most remote location.

Amenities and Ambiance

The beach here is long and straight. It can be narrow in parts, but widens nicely in others. The water off the shore is clear and usually relatively calm. The eastern portion of the beach is more populated, but fewer and fewer people make it out the further west you go.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.

Since East Palm Beach is of course found within a commonly visited area, you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.

Visitors will find this beach on the South West coast of Grand Bahama Island; this area boasts other attractions such as Bahamas Princess Ruby Course, which is a mile and a half to the north-northwest.

To some, museums and beaches may seem an odd combination, but a quite a few vacationers find that museums like Grand Bahama Museum (one of the closest to East Palm Beach) offer an entertaining diversion and help visitors understand The Bahamas' interesting past.

East Palm Beach is very close to Freeport, so touring the city could be a fun side-trip after visiting the beach. The nearby town of Freeport is noted for its balance between seclusion and urbanization. From the shore, Freeport is not far away, about two miles (three and a half kilometers).

You might also want to visit William's Town Beach, which is located one and a quarter miles to the east.
