Frigate Bay is an interesting destination on the island of St. Kitts. At first glance, it is home of “The Strip” the most popular resort, dining, and nightlife area on the island. If you look closer, however, there are less superficial things to be discovered about this stunning peninsular town.
You'll discover an abundance of beaches to visit in and around the area. Snorkeling is an option at some of the beaches, for vacationers who enjoy this relaxing pastime. Just click on the beach names for detailed information about that particular stretch of sand.
If you love snorkeling, a beach providing that option is Frigate Bay South. The Frigate Bay area is a narrow stretch of St. Kitts, with separate beaches facing north and south. The south side is frequented by locals and visitors seeking a laid-back atmosphere, volleyball, swimming and snorkeling in the calm waters of the Caribbean.
A second option that beach-goers can consider is Frigate Bay North. Curving gently along the peninsula's coast, Frigate Bay North is flanked on either side by rock formations, the most impressive of which being on the southern end. The sand on the Atlantic side is fine and golden in front of the resorts and condominiums, and the ocean views are spectacular.
Half Moon Bay: The coast is covered in a distinctively dark, almost black sand; and like the nearby appropriately named Muddy Point, walking can sometimes be difficult on the sludgy surface. The winding coastline and nearby hillsides make for pleasant scenery, though, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
