Georgetown Air Travel

As the home of the international airport, flying to George Town is easy

Home to Seven Mile Beach, the highest population of local residents, and all of the top resorts on Grand Cayman, George Town is also the location of the country's major international airport.  Around 55 international flights land here each week bringing visitors to the vacation getaway of a lifetime.

Roberts International

Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) is a mere five minutes from Dowtown Georgetown, and within easy reach of all of the area's most popular tourist destinations including Seven Mile Beach and the cruise ship terminal.  This makes it easy for cruise ship passengers hoping to get in a quick day trip to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman to make it happen.

The airport is small compared to some major hubs in the region, with one runway and one terminal, but expansion project are in the works.  For now, it is suited to handle the amount of scheduled air traffic that arrives on the island each day – though getting through Customs, Immigrations, and Security can be time consuming.

Flying to Georgetown from the US

Miami, Florida offers the most direct fights to Georgetown each week, with a stunning 28 departures.  Many travelers will find themselves connecting through this town and arriving on the island via a flight with Cayman Airways and American Airlines.  Other airlines do offer flights less often, which will allow visitors to fly straight from Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, St. Louis, Chicago, Boston, Newark and New York City.

If you live in the United States this list can be useful. Booking services don't always show the best options so it can be useful to see a summary of which airlines actually fly direct to this location.

Flying to Georgetown from the Caribbean

Flights from within the Caribbean are few, with Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Cuba being the only islands to currently offer non-stop flights.  If you're considering day-tripping to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, check with Cayman Airways for flights that travel there several times daily.

Check the following table for air service from other Caribbean airports. If there are no flights from a local airport, taking a connecting flight from another airport in the Caribbean may be a great option.
