One of Guadeloupe's top resort areas is Gosier. There are a number of reasons this is so, including the fact that is it a mere 15 minutes away from the country's major international airport. This is great news, because Guadeloupe is not known for its abundance of international flights, so removing the extra step of having to travel even further after stopping in several different airports is a relief for many.
In the town ofPointe a Pitre is Le Raizet Airport (PTP). There isn't much to the airport itself, other than the 11,483 foot long concrete runway which makes it possible for huge commercial jet liners to land here. Along with several daily flights from within the Caribbean, once a week you'll find non-stop trips from Miami, Montreal, and London.
If you're flying to Guadeloupe from the United States, Saturday is the day for you. Currently, American Airlines travels back and forth between Pointe a Pitre and Miami, Florida on this day every week.
If you'll be flying from the U.S. the list below can be useful for planning purposes. Not all of the options you will see on some of the booking engines make sense so it's useful to see at a glance which airlines actually offer direct service to this airport.
To/From | Airport Code | Airlines |
---|---|---|
Baltimore, MD, USA | BWI | Norwegian |
Miami, FL, USA | MIA | Air France, American Airlines |
While it is more common to find flights to the Caribbean from Toronto, it is actually Montreal that brings visitors from Canada via their major carrier Air Canada.
The table below shows airline companies that are flying directly out of Canadian airports.
To/From | Airport Code | Airlines |
---|---|---|
Montreal, Canada | YUL | Air Canada |
Air France offers weekly flights out of London's Heathrow Airport. If you're traveling from Europe and connecting through London isn't a possibility, you can make arrangements to connect to Miami through New York City, or elsewhere in the Caribbean.
From within the Caribbean, you'll find daily flights available through regional carries like LIAT and Winair. This works for those traveling to several different locations in the Caribbean, as well as those who find it easier to connect through the islands rather than wait until a flight is available from their home country.
See the table below for airline service from airports in the region. If there aren't any flights directly from your preferred airport, connecting through another airport could be a great option.
To/From | Airport Code | Airlines |
---|---|---|
Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda | ANU | LIAT |
Dominica | DOM | Air Antilles Express, LIAT, Winair |
Grand Case, The island of St. Martin and Sint Maarten | SFG | Air Antilles Express, Air Caraibes |
Gustavia, St. Barthelemy | SBH | Air Antilles Express |
Isla Verde, Puerto Rico | SJU | Seaborne Airlines |
Martinique | FDF | Air Antilles Express, Air Caraibes, Air France |
Simpson Bay, The island of St. Martin and Sint Maarten | SXM | Air Antilles Express |
the Dominican Republic | SDQ | Air Antilles Express, Air Caraibes, Air France |
For most people, flying to Guadeloupe is the preferred way for them to make it to their getaway in Gosier. Although it does take a bit of planning to book a flight that works for your schedule, the short distance from the airport and this town does make things easier in the long run.
