Petite Havre

A small bay with a bit of shade, this beach is especially loved by fishermen, but it is secluded and great for snorkeling as well.

Situated in the vicinity of Pointe A Pitre, in the same general area as Gosier, Petite Havre is on the South edge of Grande-Terre. You might think about stopping by even if you are not staying nearby. It's often said that Petite Havre is perfect for escaping the hustle of Guadeloupe's urban areas. Most other beaches in Guadeloupe may be just as breezy and refreshing, but are usually more cramped since they're near some of the most popular hotels.

How to Access The Beach
If you're traveling from Pointe-a-Pitre, take the road to Saint Francois and drive through Mare Gaillard following the main road. When you reach Plage du Petit Havre, take a right, then two immediate rights after that.

Amenities and Ambiance

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location.

Other Beaches

Petite Havre is just one of many beaches you can visit on Grande-Terre.

Another location you might enjoy is Anse Vinaigri, another area that provides plenty of opportunities to relax. More active guests, though, may be interested in Ilet du Gosier, which offers more action, and is closer to other tourist hot-spots.

Another sun-drenched spot to consider is Pointe des Salines, one of the many great Guadeloupe beach sites.

Petite Havre could be the ideal stretch of sand, but it is possible that it may not be the best choice for your family; if so, Guadeloupe offers a variety of beaches for travelers who wish to try elsewhere.
