A beautiful sunny beach with sand that shimmers almost as much as the water, Tippy's Beach is close enough to development to have some amenities, but far enough away that you can expect a bit more privacy.
Located in the heart of the island of Eleuthera, Tippy's Beach is on the East-Southeast edge of the island, You might want whether or not you are staying in the vicinity. A surprisingly wide range of visitors end up loving Tippy's Beach; it's not too far off the beaten path, plus it's rarely crowded. If you want to avoid The Bahamas' highly secluded beaches, but also want a little space to spread out, this beach is right in the middle.
Like much of Eleuthera Island, the beach is protected by a thick wall of trees, offering a good deal of privacy. And while it is just down the way from some popular resorts, Tippy's Beach is much less crowded, despite its convenient location.
You'll also discover that there is a restaurant on the shore worth trying. There are several, unique dining options in the Bahamas, but did you know that some of The Bahamas' best dishes aren't served in restaurants at all? Some visitors, in fact, find it more convenient and relaxing to eat on near the beach than in another restaurant. With this in mind, you might ask your hotel if they offer to pack picnic lunches for their guests. Or, it would be easy to grab some hot food from a street vendor or casual cafe along the way.
Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business.
The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the East-Southeast coast of Eleuthera. Nearby you'll find accommodations like Pineapple Fields Hotel Condo, which is found only a short distance away. Visitors have the option to walk or to take a cab to this hotel, perhaps the closest booking option reachable from Tippy's Beach, despite there not being too many additional popular spots close-by.
Tippy's Beach is in the Governors Harbour area, so travelers staying in town won't have far to go. Not far away you'll find Governors Harbour, a city which is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From the coast, Governors Harbour is just up the road, maybe two and a half miles (four kilometers).
Whether or not you encounter many other people will depend on if you visit during a popular season, which is often indicated by how busy the hotels are. Tippy's Beach is not located near many major hotels, but you may encounter guests staying at some of the area's smaller options.
