Part of the Turks and Caicos National Museum, the Caicos Heritage House is an authentic replica of what would have been a typical island dwelling in the 1800s. Visitors can explore the grounds of the exhibit and get an idea of what life was like two centuries ago.

Offerings

Guests have an opportunity to explore exhibits that were meticulously created after many hours of careful research. The overall goal is to offer an authentic preservation of history. The Caicos Heritage House gives visitors a first-hand understanding of life on the islands in the 1800s.

Seeing this exhibit will give you a better appreciation for what life in the Turks and Caicos Islands was like during most of the past 160 years. The Caicos Islanders well adapted to the climate and environment, both on the land and in the water.

One of the goals of this museum is to preserve knowledge of past life styles and traditional use of foods and medicinal plants, which is in danger of slipping away as the oldest residents pass away. They are encouraging older residentes to come forward with their knowledge and stories, so that the Museum can preserve them and share them with tourists and younger members of the local community
