Sailing is a popular pastime, especially in the Caribbean where there are so many islands to explore that a lifetime of sailing wouldn't allow you to touch them all. Many tourists make the journey to Turks and Caicos, choosing Grace Bay as their final destination, each year by way of sailing their own private yacht or a chartered vessel.
If you simply want to enjoy some time on the water, without the cost and responsibility of sailing on your own you can take an excursion. Check out the table below to find contact information for area excursion providers.

Those who plan to sail to Providenciales then stay in Grace Bay have several options when it comes to their first encounter with the island. Initially, it is required that sailors enter at a port of entry to meet with customs officials and gain clearance. On Provo, there are five ports of entry, each of which is within 15 minutes of Grace Bay on land. The port nearest Grace Bay is the Leeward Marina and Turtle Cove comes in at a close second.

As you approach Provo, place a call via VHF Channel 16 to get in touch with customs officials, who can answer any questions you have and direct you to the dock. When you arrive, you'll need to show officials a list of the ship's stores, a crew and passenger list, and documentation from your last port of call. It is up to the discretion of the customs official whether or not to allow you access, though this is rarely an issue. Once approved, ask for a cruising permit, which will allow you to sail between the islands for one week. If you have plans to stick around longer, you'll have to dock and head into the interior to apply for a longer permit at the immigrations office.
Once approved, you can sail to Grace Bay and choose where you'd like to dock and your dream vacation will only be just beginning.
