Bahama Beach

This beach is on the west end of the island, and might be a nice place to stop off for a nice view of the ocean if you're making a trip to or from the western tip. Not a heavily traveled spot, you may be the only person out here.

Located in the vicinity of Freeport, 1.6 miles west-northwest of Holmes Rock, Bahama Beach is on the West coast of Grand Bahama Island. You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Bahama Beach is a distinguishable relaxation spot because it's one of the best spots for escaping over-crowded hangouts in the town proper. Other nearby beaches in the Bahamas offer views of the sea that are just as pretty, but are usually more cramped because they're right around the corner from the area's major hotels and resorts.

How to Access The Beach

From the Warren J Levanity Hwy (or Queen's Hwy), there are a number of small, unmarked side roads on the left that will take you out to the water.

Amenities and Ambiance

There are only a couple residences in the area, but almost none on the beachfront. It makes for a really nice place to stop for a picnic. It is quite a drive from Freeport, but if the feeling of being on a Bahamanian Out Island is what you're looking for, it may be worth the trek out here. The water is shallow close to the shore, the sand is fine, and coastal trees all along the perimeter provide excellent shade.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.

If you tend to enjoy beaches which offer those who visit a relaxing place to escape, then you may want to try Bahama Beach; it is tucked away in a more natural sector of Grand Bahama Island.
