You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Bahama Beach is a distinguishable relaxation spot because it's one of the best spots for escaping over-crowded hangouts in the town proper. Other nearby beaches in the Bahamas offer views of the sea that are just as pretty, but are usually more cramped because they're right around the corner from the area's major hotels and resorts.
From the Warren J Levanity Hwy (or Queen's Hwy), there are a number of small, unmarked side roads on the left that will take you out to the water.
There are only a couple residences in the area, but almost none on the beachfront. It makes for a really nice place to stop for a picnic. It is quite a drive from Freeport, but if the feeling of being on a Bahamanian Out Island is what you're looking for, it may be worth the trek out here. The water is shallow close to the shore, the sand is fine, and coastal trees all along the perimeter provide excellent shade.
Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.
If you tend to enjoy beaches which offer those who visit a relaxing place to escape, then you may want to try Bahama Beach; it is tucked away in a more natural sector of Grand Bahama Island.

The nearest area of Grand Bahama Island to Bahama Beach is. This friendly part of Grand Bahama Island is only a mile and a half from the shore, which means you needn't use up an entire day here. This region in the Bahamas is an area with plenty to do, but yet isn't overcrowded.
How many other people you encounter at Bahama Beach will depend on how many hotel guests decide to make the trip as well. There are not many large hotels nearby, but you may see guests staying at smaller lodgings in the area.
There aren't any restaurants near this beach, so you may choose to plan a picnic if you want to fully enjoy your day in the sun.

You might also enjoy Coral Beach, found within taxi range of the coast. However, if that's not exactly what you're looking for, Xanadu Beach offers a few more possibilities for excitement, and is closer to nearby attractions. It's found 12 miles to the southeast.
