When you plan to fly to Grand Case, chances are you'll actually land on the Dutch side of the island where there is a major international airport that actually serves as a regional hub.  This airport welcomes travelers from around the world before sending them off aboard smaller planes to destinations in the Caribbean that may not have such a large airport available to them.  But Grand Case is also where you'll find St. Martin's own small international airport, allowing for the slight possibility that you could land right near your accommodations.

L'Espérance Airport

Although generally just referred to as the Grand Case Air Port, the airport in town is called the L'Esperance Airport.  With a 3,937 foot long asphalt runway and limited facilities, it is very small and welcomes a minimal amount of traffic each year.  It is rare to see a flight land here that is not from St. Barthelemy or Guadeloupe, and they usually are operated by St. Barth Commuter and Air Antilles Express.  If you hire a charter, flying to this airport may also be a possibility.

Princess Juliana International Airport

As you might expect, it is much more common to fly into the Princess Juliana International Airport in Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten.  This airport is enormous, especially when you compare it to L'Esperance.  The runway is 7,540 feet long, and the terminal building is four stories tall.  Within it, there are over 40 shops and restaurants, 40 check in desks, 10 immigration booths, 13 arrival and departure gates, and more.  The great thing about this airport is that getting through customs is an easy transition because of the fact that the entire island is a duty free port.

Flying to Grand Case from the US

Flights from the United States generally originate from cities along the east coast, especially in Florida and New York.  If you're traveling from Middle America or the West Coast, you'll find it easiest to connect through these states.

Flights from Europe are not as easy to come by, but they do travel to Princess Juliana more than most other destinations in the Caribbean.  It is easiest to book a flight out of France, but there are also two or three flights a week from Amsterdam.
