Happy Bay

A small beach with stunning white sand and crystal clear waters, this is one of the most hidden and secluded beaches on the island, but perhaps not for long. In 2014, it was listed as one of the Best Secret Beaches on Earth by Travel + Leisure Magazine.

Situated in Saint Martin, Happy Bay is on the South edge of the island of St. Martin and Sint Maarten. You should consider stopping by even if you are not staying particularly close by. Many of the beaches in St. Martin are quiet and secluded, but the ambiance at Happy Bay is one of both seclusion and activity; this means you can relax without sacrificing a fun and social atmosphere.

How to Access The Beach

This beach is on the northern, quieter end of St. Martin. It requires a 15 minute hike from the road, Rue Happy Bay.

Amenities and Ambiance

Trees line this private island oasis, providing relief from the bright sunlight. There is not likely to be a crowd here. Nudity is not officially allowed on this beach, but it is tolerated.

Even if you plan to dine elsewhere, the snack bar on-site could come in handy. If available, you could also buy food from one of the local vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Fortunately, lounging chairs can be used by visitors looking for a break from the hot sun.

You should remember that the immediate vicinity around Happy Bay is rather congested, which means the availability of certain services is likely to be affected.
