The trendy small town of Grand Case is rarely thought of as the top place to visit when it comes to eco-tourism, but those who stay here can easily sneak away and see some of the island's most breathtaking sites without hassle.  Look for nature reserves, a plantation, and even a butterfly garden all within just a few miles of town.

Loterie Farm Nature Reserve

Do you hope to spend more of your vacation time outdoors? You might be pleased to know the area has some nature preserves nearby.

Loterie Farm Nature Reserve is a popular nature preserve found within Saint Martin, 1.6 mi. South of central Grand Case. This protected area is the largest on the island and a prime spot for any eco-tourist that find themselves in Saint Martin. The park offers numerous eco-orientated activities that will allow guests to enjoy the more natural side of the island.

Parks and Botanical Gardens

Vacationers can enjoy either of two parks, as well as a botanical garden nearby.

To surround yourself with beautiful tropical vegetation, consider visiting The Butterfly Farm, which is located in Orient Bay, 2.6 mi. Southeast of central Grand Case. The most important part of your visit at the Butterfly Farm will be a guided tour, which shows the evolutionary cycle of the butterfly, how they live, and what they do. Tours last for 15 to 20 minutes are are available all day.

A second attraction in this category is Emilio Wilson Historic Park. Although the Emilio Wilson Park is a traditional park where you can picnic, run, and play, the grounds have also been transformed into a living museum. Reconstructed versions of the slave quarters, an outhouse, a watch house, and a school stand on the grounds, waiting to be explored by history buffs.
