It has only been in the last decade that buses have become a relevant form of transportation on Grand Cayman, which shows you how much growth the island experienced in recent years. Although this form of transport is most commonly used by locals as they commute to and from work, it is absolutely an option that tourists can and should take advantage of.
The public bus system is comprised of just under 40 minibuses which can hold up to 12 passengers at one time. They originate from the bus terminal in Georgetown, and make stops along the way to many of the major settlements. You can take the bus Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. For anywhere from $1.25 to $5(USD) depending on the length of your journey. Do be aware that if the bus is full it will not stop. This means that if you have a scheduled event to attend and you're riding the bus, you may want to consider arriving at the bus stop well in advance.
The main bus terminal on Grand Cayman is located adjacent to the Public Library on Edward Street right in the center of town. Buses are painted to coordinate with their route, and all route begin in Georgetown. The Green Line ends in Rankins Plaza, the Orange Line ends at North Beach, the Purple Line runs to East End, and the Red Line to West End.
