When the people of the Cayman Islands realized the potential the tourism industry had was largely effected by the quality of the beaches, they worked hard on the landscaping and atmosphere of each beach on the island. Often, this included importing coastal flora, many times from Australia. It is because of this that Heritage Beach is such an important natural site in the Cayman Islands -- it is one of the few beaches with all natural, indigenous landscaping.
Although it has not yet been designated as a conservation area, the National Trust of the Cayman Islands expects that it will be soon. The unique plant life found here may even have placards explaining their heritage.
Guests should note that this beach is not a swimmers beach, but it does make for a great picnic spot.
