Coconut Cove Beach

This beach is frequented mainly by those staying at the Coconut Cove Hotel, and various other resorts and beach houses. The area is peaceful, and there is an interesting boating scene here.

Located in the northwestern outskirts of George Town, Coconut Cove Beach is on the West coast of Great Exuma. You might think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Although Coconut Cove Beach is not the most hidden spot in the Bahamas, it offers just enough privacy to attract visitors who need a place to relax.

How to Access The Beach
Just up the road north of George Town, there are a couple of spots off the main road to pull your car over to the side, park, and follow the path to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Located in between the mainland and Stocking Island, the water remains clam, and the various shades of blue in the water are fantastic. Multiple boat docks ease out into the water from the shore here. Off-shore rock formations are another interesting feature.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.

Don't forget that Coconut Cove Beach's location is visited by quite a number of tourists, so plan accordingly.

Cities and Towns

Coconut Cove Beach is very close to George Town, so walking the city is a definite option. The city of George Town is close-by and is a region with interesting things to do, yet is never overly congested. From the beach, George Town isn't far off, about three quarters of a mile (a kilometer).


The mood here——social and lively, or virtually empty—— will depend on if you visit during a popular season, which is often indicated by how busy the hotels are. This spot is not near many large hotels, but you may meet guests from the few small lodgings in the area.

If you're on the beach and start to get the munchies, don't worry, there are lots of nearby options when it comes to dining. One of the closest places to eat is Augusta Bay Restaurant. This restaurant has both Bahamian and Caribbean menu items. They are also known for their seafood. You'll have the option of walking or taking a cab as it's only a short distance away.

Other Beaches

Coconut Cove Beach isn't the only beach worth checking out on Great Exuma.

You might also enjoy Jolly Hall Beach, where there's usually lots of activity. It is located a half mile to the northwest. If you'd rather try a more private, less popular location, Emerald Bay Beach could be a good option for you. It is located only a taxi trip away from the shore.

You might also want to visit Hooper's Bay Beach, located within a short distance.
