Docking

One of the best ways to get to Great Guana Cay is by boat. A sail to the Bahamas is a quick jaunt, thanks to its location so near South Florida, and less than a day of travel will find sailors on the island and ready to get their vacation started. Whether you're sailing yourself or you've hired a crewed charter, your first stop will need to be an official port-of-entry. In the Abacos, these are Marsh Harbour, Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay, Sandy Point, Walkers Cay, Grand Cay, and Spanish Cay. Fly into any of these spots with your yellow quarantine flag flying, and a Customs or Immigration official will meet you when you dock.

All passengers aboard the boat will need to show proof of citizenship and fill out an immigration form, plus all paperwork regarding the boat. Once approved, you'll be responsible for paying somewhere between $150 and $300(USD) for a cruising permit, fishing permit, and departure fee for four people. For every extra person, it is an extra $15(USD). One payment has been made, you are free to sail to Great Guana Cay, and dock at one of the marinas or moorings in the area, such as the Orchid Bay Marina, which has 66 slips, and amenities such as shower, laundry facilities, electricity, and fuel.
