Calivigny Island

Calivigny Island is right off the southern shores of Grenada. There are a two islands off this bay, Hog Island and Calivigny, but Calivigny has better snorkeling and white sandy shores. The island is dominated by an ultra-exclusive villa-resort, and access is generally restricted to guests only. If you happen to be one of those guests, you are sure to enjoy your time on the island's beaches.

Located in the vicinity of St. George's, Calivigny Island is on the South edge of Grenada. You should consider dropping by even if you are not staying nearby. Beachgoers should keep in mind that, while Calivigny Island is by no means quiet and secluded, you wouldn't necessarily call it a busy beach either. This makes it a good option for those of you who want to enjoy a beach with mild activity without getting stuck in the most crowded parts of town.

How to Access The Beach

There is a boat dock on Calivigny's northern edge, closest to Grenada so the boat trip here is quite short, but you can't get here unless you charter passage or have a boat. Note, however, this is a private beach, part of an exclusive vacation package. You can contact the manager of the island at (473) 405-0642 but realize that the paying guests here rent out the entire island, so do not expect admittance. If you want to learn more about the island, check out the resort's website: .

Amenities and Ambiance

Calivigny is lined with white sandy shores and clear warm waters. Most beaches are backed by lush greenery and fragrant flowers.

If you're thinking about eating lunch here, consider that their picnic tables make it even easier.

For your convenience, restrooms are available at Calivigny Island. You'll appreciate that showers are available, so you can rinse off the sand. In addition, you'll find umbrellas and chairs here, so visitors hoping for a place to relax in the shade will get their wish. The water in the area is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface.

Though, it is important remember that even though there are luckily some comforts (BLANK) while at Calivigny Island, it can be located within an area popular for visitors. With that fact in mind, if you think the amenities influence your decision, it'll be a smart cause to make it earlier in the day prior to when the other people show up or try a beach in a more remote area. If you wait around, you could run the risk of the amenities being unavailable.
