Gouyave is known around Grenada as being a busy, friendly, energetic town, and the beach is no different. Visitors should not expect to have the shore entirely to themselves, but the ambiance is such that you will always feel welcome.
Located near the middle of Gouyave, Gouyave Beach is on the North West coast of Grenada. You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Those of you who want the best of both worlds——a sense of seclusion, but the option for activity—— should give Gouyave Beach a try. It's just slightly removed from the center of it all, but it's not quiet or boring either.
The beach is located just off Hills View Road.
Primarily a fishing village, there is a dock that stretches out to the sea and the shores of Gouyave Beach are lined with canoes and fishing boats, always ready and waiting to go in search of the day's catch. The beach itself enjoys soft, tan colored sand and a few palm trees here and there. The water is aquamarine in hue.
You'll also discover that there is a restaurant on the shore worth trying. There are several types of dining experiences to be had on Grenada, but eating a delicious meal on the beach can be especially enjoyable. Did you know that many hotels are able to pack picnic lunches for their guests? Otherwise, there are plenty of walk-up vendors that offer hot, on-the-go food.
For your convenience, restrooms are available at Gouyave Beach. You will find the water here is clear enough for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you're looking to see some exciting marine life.
You should remember that the region in which Gouyave Beach is located is highly urbanized, so you may find many people vying for the use of the same amenities.
This spot is on the North West coast of Grenada. It is near some interesting sites like, which is not very far away, so visitors have the option to walk or to take a cab, and it is one of a few local attractions.
Historical attractions such as Dougaldston Spice Estate offer a nice compliment to a soothing day at Gouyave Beach, and provide beachgoers with the opportunity to learn about Grenada's past, without having to go too far from the beach. As a matter of fact, this coastline is located three quarters of a mile to the south of this site of historical significance.
Being able to choose from some activities besides the beach will ensure you won't run out of ways to stay busy. The attractions nearest to this beach are listed in the following table.

The closest town is St. George's, which is noted for its balance between seclusion and urbanization. From the beach, Gouyave is just up the road, maybe a quarter mile (a quarter kilometer).
Whether or not you encounter a lot of other visitors will be influenced by everything from the time of day to the capacity of nearby hotels. Gouyave Beach is not located near many major hotels, but it can appeal to visitors from some of the smaller accommodations in the area.

While this location isn't located in the culinary epicenter of the area, you'll probably still spot a few places to try, especially if you're willing to venture a little farther away. One of the nearest restaurants is, which is a delicious choice during or after a day at the beach.

Of course, you'll find plenty of other beaches on Grenada, so if Gouyave Beach doesn't sound like your type of scene, you have options.
You may also want to try David Bay South, where there's usually lots of activity. You'll find it five and a half miles to the northeast. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Sauteurs Bay is an area which doesn't host as many visitors. It is located within taxi range of the coast.
You may also want to consider Duquesne Bay, which is located fairly close-by, so a quick ride in a taxi is an easy option.
Of course, there is much more to do besides lounge on the sand on Grenada, but a trip to Gouyave Beach could end up a family favorite.
