Set in an extinct submarine volcano, Grand Etang Lake is the largest lake on Grenada.
The largest lake on the island of Grenada, Grand Etang Lake is set 1,800 feet above sea level and measures approximately 20 feet deep.
This is one of the most popular spots on the island for a guided hike, but you can brave the trails surrounding the lake alone and be on the lookout for lizards and tropical birds. Hike times range from an easy 15 minutes to a more challenging four hours.
Located on the southwestern part of the island of Grenada, 1.8 miles south west of Morne Longue, Grand Etang Lake welcomes residents and vacationers who are rooming on this part of the island or close by. Even if you aren't staying in the vicinity, you should consider stopping by for some fun in the sun. It is 4.5 miles northeast of St. George's.
The main road that takes you over the hills from St. George's to St. Andrews is the only way to get the Grand Etang Lake. As you're driving, signs will guide you to the lake.
Of course, one of the most exciting possibilities while spending a few hours exploring the area is having a dish at a restaurant within traveling distance of Grand Etang Lake. Bernie's Ice Cream is an ideal location to enjoy a meal at before spending time at Grand Etang Lake, and will be of particular interest to visitors looking for a convenient meal. Also close-by, you'll have eateries like Deyna's Tasty Foods and La Heliconia Restaurant where you and your group can try out Caribbean cuisine and enjoy the Grenada scene.
If you'd like to find out more about viewing a second lake, check out Antoine Lake, which is located 8.4 miles away from Grand Etang Lake. Other nearby attractions include Seven Sisters Waterfall, which is one and an eighth miles away near Grenville. Also think about making the trip to Grand Etang National Park and Forest, which is another attraction close by.
