The town of Gros Islet is home to just one small beach, but it's a nice one -- on a quiet bay with ideal conditions for swimming. If you'd like to experience a bustling beachside tourist scene, complete with restaurants, water sports vendors and people watching, drive a short distance to the south. Or, if you just want some scenic variety, drive a short distance to the north and you'll find plenty of other options as well.

Pigeon Point Beach: The shores of Pigeon Point beach are endowed with groves of lush tropical trees, including big banyans, that tower high above the sands. From this beach you can take in great views of the coast and nearby Martinique.
A second alternative that beach-goers can consider is Donkey Beach. From Castries, take the main coastal road north past Choc and into Corinth. Take your first right after the Rasco on the left.
Cas En Bas: On the northeast tip of the Saint Lucia, this beach as become popular with windsurfers taking advantage of the constant on-shore trade winds. Lessons are available for those wanting to learn.
