Anse Kanouanne

More natural coast than beach, Anse Kanouanne is just one of a string of beaches that make up the southern coast of Guadeloupe's Southeast Point. With clear water and relatively free of waves, this area is a top snorkeling destination on the island.

Situated on the eastern side of the island of Grande-Terre, 2.0 miles east of downtown St. Francois, You should consider dropping by even if you are not staying nearby. This beach is not just beautiful, it also has a private beach feel——a unique quailty in a touristy place like Guadeloupe. While Anse Kanouanne might be a little bit out of the way, it offers unparalleled relaxation opportunities.

How to Access The Beach

Visitors to the beach will need to take Highway D-118, the main road of the Southeast Point. While the specific beach access road is unmarked, the string of beaches are accessible by any of the dirt roads off to right to the south of D-118.

Amenities and Ambiance

Anse Kanouanne is a small beach, really not much more than a strip of sand. However, its remoteness and wall of trees give it near absolute privacy from the world outside, making a prime beach for those looking to get away.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. Happily, the off-shore waters are clear and good for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some equipment if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface.

If you prefer beaches which offer those who visit an angelic experience, then you will want to try Anse Kanouanne; it's back within a less urbanized area of the region.
